It has a long-standing history, since its predecessor is the Institute for World Economics that was established in 1973. Researchers of the Institute have focused on the Hungarian economy and its embeddedness in global relations and processes. Their work aims to identify mechanisms shaping the world economy by drawing comparative analyses as well as exploring how countries respond to international economic and political change.
