Syria still has the most significant number of refugees in the region: around seven million people live outside the country\u2019s borders and another nearly seven million are internally displaced. Syria has had a changed social structure as a result of the still unresolved conflict, which has been going on since 2011. The aim of this study is to analyse the possibility of Assisted Voluntary Return of Internally Displaced persons and the associated difficulties \u2013 carried out within the framework of international development cooperation. The research confirms the hypothesis that Internally Displaced Persons often wish to return home when conditions become suitable.
