This project examines how the transition to electromobility is reshaping Hungary’s automotive industry and development path. It focuses on the interaction between investments by German automotive manufacturers, Asian battery producers and Hungary’s industrial policy. The research analyses the implications of these investments for domestic firms, employment, regional development and technological upgrading. Particular attention is paid to the economic, social and environmental dimensions of the green transition and to the extent to which electromobility contributes to sustainable and inclusive development. The project aims to formulate policy recommendations that can strengthen Hungary’s long-term competitiveness while increasing domestic value creation and embedding within emerging electric vehicle value chains.
