The Institute of World Economics took its current form on 1 January 2012 as a part of the Centre for Economic and Regional Studies. It has a long-standing history, since its predecessor is the Institute for World Economics that was established in 1973. Researchers of the Institute have focused on the Hungarian economy and its embeddedness in global relations and processes. Their work aims to identify mechanisms shaping the world economy by drawing comparative analyses as well as exploring how countries respond to international economic and political change. With this, we contribute to the scientific analysis of Hungary’s economy and its agency on the international scene.
